I hope my camera and I have done justice to these magnificent animals.
In the Fall of 2007, I started photographing the shelter animals (I concentrate on the dogs) at the NYC ACC's, Brooklyn branch, together with a few other very dedicated volunteer photographers. Our goal is to get striking images of these abandoned dogs and cats on their website: hopefully to give potential adopters and rescuers a better idea of the personality and beauty of these wonderful creatures.
The NYC ACC has a very dedicated team of volunteer workers, striving to get these dogs, cats (and rabbits too!) into new loving happy homes. Unfortunately, since the NYC ACC is a city shelter, space is at a premium — this means that there is a limited time that each animal can spend in the shelter.
My objective is to encourage people to take a second glance at giving these animals a home, through my portraits.
If you are interested in learning more about this NY shelter, to adopt or perhaps volunteer or donate to, please go to http://www.nycacc.org.
I also started photographing for the wonderful Sean Casey Rescue Group in Brooklyn, beginning in early 2009. They set a record of placing 2,000 animals in loving homes in 2008; and hope to supersede that amount this year. If interested in volunteering, donating to or adopting through them please go to: http://www.scarnyc.org.
Thank you.
